Maria Brechane, from Rio Grande, was crowned Miss Universe Rio Grande do Sul 2023 at the finale of the state pageant held on Saturday, 6th May 2023 at the Multi Hall Events Center at ParkShopping, in Canoas. Maria will now represent her state at Miss Universe Brazil 2023.

Maria succeeds her predecessor Alina Furtado. Mari Brechane, through her official social media, expressed her emotions in a post captioned, “The lightness of doing what I love. At that moment I felt like I was floating on the catwalk. With a look of happiness, I conquered the dreamed title of Miss Universe Rio Grande do Sul on the night of 6th May.”

“Thank you for all the messages of affection and unconditional support. Today I represent the image of the gaucho woman around the world, so proud! I take with me the strength and determination characteristic of our entire state. Towards Miss Brazil”, she added.

Along with Maria Eduarda, the contestants who reached the finals were Canoas’ Jaquiele da Silva, Passo Fundo’s Nicole Alarcony, São Vicente do Sul’s Talita Hartmann and Taquara’s Vitória Liskoski.
