Mireia Lalaguna is in Kenya to attend local programs for Smile Train

As reported to you previously about the reigning Miss World Mireia Lalaguna’s visit to Kenya, here is some update on the same. Mireia has arrived in Kenya along with Miss World CEO Julia Morley for a four-day visit to see local programs for Smile Train, the world’s largest cleft charity, and the anti-jigger campaign.

The 4 days visit of Mireia will include visiting and observing the various programs of Smile Train. The MW Organisation will also be awarding Kenya’s Idah Nguma a SH1 million prize for the work done through her partnership with Smile Train. Idah was one of the five winners of the Beauty with a Purpose award at Miss World 2014.

Kenya visit is also an opportunity to monitor the development of the Anti-Jiggers campaign, an initiative which raises awareness of Jiggers and fights to eradicate the devastating condition.

Smile Train is slowly making an impactful impression at the beauty pageants. Miss World organization and philanthropic activities go hand in hand, but the new owners of Miss Universe organization, WME and IMG have also collaborated with the Smile Train organization, the world’s largest cleft charity. Both Smile Train and Miss Universe organization officially announced a new altruistic partnership to help raise wakefulness of the issues faced by children living with unrepaired clefts in the developing countries.

Recently, Mireia was in Russia to support the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS. Mireia along with Sofia Nikitchuk, Miss World Russia 2015, reached a lab at the Center for Molecule Diagnosis of Rospotrebnadzor's Central Research Institute of Epidemiology to conduct a HIV test in support of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV / AIDS 90-90-90 initiative. Both the beauty queen did a HIV support to initiate a step for the cause.
