Miss World 2016 pageant has officially begun in Washington DC, US and the pageant organised the opening ceremony for the contestants on 1st December 2016. The finale of Miss World 2016 is slated to be held on 18th December 2016 and at the conclusion of the finale Mireia Lalaguna of Spain will crown her successor.

The delegated made their arrivals in November and a total of 119 contestants are competing for the title this year. Around 91 finalists also participated at the Talent competition of Miss World. The Talent competition was held on 30th November and the semi-finalists of the Talent round were also announced, who are – Chile, Cook Islands, Croatia, Czech Republic, Fiji, Hungary, Latvia, Malta, Mongolia, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Ukraine, Canada, India and Ecuador.

Miss World is one of the oldest beauty pageants amongst the Big 4 (four) international beauty pageants. The Miss World beauty pageant started in the year 1951, the idea of Miss World beauty pageant was conceptualized by late Eric Morley, and the first edition of the Miss World beauty pageant was held in United Kingdom. Miss World is one of the most publicized beauty pageants alongside Miss Universe and Miss Earth pageants.
