Manushi Chhillar made India proud when she was crowned Miss World 2017 on 18th November 2017 and since then the country can’t seem to have enough of her. In recently held CNN-News18 Indian of the Year award function, Manushi was felicitated with the special achievement award. She was given a trophy by Ace cricketer and Indian Cricket team’s captain, Virat Kohli and the Finance Minister and the Minister of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Arun Jaitley.

Wearing an off-shoulder brown designed by Monisha Jaising, she looked ravishing. She was specially invited to the award night to make her feel special for achieving so much for the country by clinching the title of Miss World 2017 after a long gap of 17 years.

At the event, the lovely queen also had a question for the youth icon, Virat Kohli. “You are one of the best batsmen in the world today and you’ve been such an inspiration. You’ve really given back to the society. But there are a lot of young people who draw inspiration from you. How would you like to give back for children, especially in the world of cricket?” asked Manushi.

To this, The Indian cricket team skipper replied: “Well, what’s very important to understand is when you do what you do and you express yourself on the field, it has to be genuine and it has to be from the heart. Otherwise, if people find out that you’re trying to pretend, then they can never connect to you. I’ve never tried to be anyone else. I’ve always been myself; I always mention that people had a lot of issues with how I was, how I conducted myself, but I had never had any problems with that.”

She shared the stage with Virat and both of them had only good words to say about each other. Virat also went on to say that he hopes both of them can forward the country’s name on the International level in a positive light.

The host of the evening also asked the chairwoman of the Miss World Organisation Julia Morley, what set Manushi apart from the other 119 contestants in the competition and whether it was her final answer that did it for her? To this Julia replied that Manushi’s project made her stand out among the rest from the beginning. Her thought of improving the menstrual hygiene among the women in Indian rural areas was the main reason that she won, along with her overall performance.

It’s a great time for this young achiever who has become so popular in such a short span of time. While she basks in the glory of her success, we only have hearty congratulations for her!
