Who said international beauty pageants are all work and no play? The delegates of Miss World have a gala time visiting many beautiful places in China. They were divided into groups and were joined by none other than our reigning Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar and Mis World 2016 and Beauty With a Purpose Ambassador Stephanie Del Valle.
It was a long and eventful day for the delegates as in some venues they were together and in some, they were divided into groups for the day as there were many places that they had to visit, starting from the Hainan International Tourism Carnival which was the address for the delegates of Miss World 2018 on 24th November 2018.
The carnival was a mesmerising sight as Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar wore the gown that she wore during her final. The Miss World Organization took to their social media and wrote, “Reigning Miss World Manushi Chhillar looked stunning today at the 19th Hainan International Tourism Carnival, wearing a luxury designer, strapless silver-grey gown by Falguni Shane Peacock, adorned with crystals and hand stitched feather detail with the pure crepe lining. The design is integral to peacock culture that connects fragility and strength, tradition and modernity, fluidity and severity together.”
All the delegates joined the parade while wearing their national costumes and dancing on stage for the people, the tourists and the media. The Carnival’s main agenda is to promote the tourism industry, products and new routes of China and abroad, and what better way to do it than to bring in the most beautiful women from all over the world donning the costumes of their respective countries!
The next place they visited was the Mei She River Wetlands Park which is an area of about 200 acres. After a huge regeneration project, this wasteland is now an environmentally friendly and agriculture-friendly site. Manushi, as well as Stephanie, were also present in this visit. All the delegates enjoyed a lot getting to know about different living creatures and insects that have significantly increased in number since the regeneration.
The day was then followed by a visit to the San Jiao Chi Park which was also in ruins before a series of plannings and regeneration processed turned it into an agricultural haven as well as a tourist site in Haikou. The Miss World Organization described the visit and experience of the delegates and wrote, “Contestants got back in touch with nature appreciating a green eco-friendly environment and agricultural development and inspired by its transformation.”
Next up was the Shishan Volcanic Cluster National Geopark, also in Haikou. It is a place that has a very rich flora and fauna. The area is very rich in Volcanic landscapes and lava structures and the visitors can learn a lot about volcanism. Th place is named after a crater and it covers about a 118 kilometres.
This year’s batch of Miss World also visited the Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park which houses thousands of rare birds and animals. But the main attraction for the ladies was Shun Shun and GungGung, two adorable giant pandas who were not at all bothered by the overflowing attention that they were receiving from the global beauties.
The last place the contestants visited was the Movie Town Haikou. And it is now confirmed that this year’s Miss World delegates are not bothered by a little rain, more so if they are in the Feng Xiao Movie Town. It is an artificial town that is located in Mission Hills Haikou Golf Resort. It is a movie and television filming location. All the contestants dressed up and tried their hand in Karate.
The finale of Miss World 2018 will be held on 8th December 2018 in Sanya, China where the reigning Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar will be crowning the new queen.
