Miss World Bangladesh 2017 has been launched successfully. It is the oldest running beauty pageant. Antar Showbiz and Omikon Entertainment are mutually bringing the franchise of Miss World to the country.

The pageant was launched through an event held in the capital where organizers announced details of the beauty pageant. The registration for the selection round started on July 28, while the next audition round and the TV round will commence on September 1. The final coronation will be held on 29th September after winding up other rounds.

The information Minister, Hasanul Hoque Inu also graced the event. He said, “Miss World Bangladesh will set a bright example of women empowerment and independence in Bangladesh.”

The chairman of Antar Showbiz, said, “The winner of Miss World Bangladesh will represent Bangladesh at the international stage.” Lovello is the title sponsor of the pageant and the program will be aired on NTV.

The Miss Bangladesh Contest was first initiated in 1994, but the event did not attract the national media. In the same year, Anita Taher first represented Bangladesh at the Miss World 1994 held in Sun City, South Africa. Tabassum Ferdous Shaon, who took part in the Miss World 2001 in South Africa, was the last Bangladeshi contender. Bangladesh has not sent a representative to Miss World since 2001.
