Jannatul Ferdous Oishee: The fierce representative of Bangladesh in Miss World 2018

Jannatul Ferdous Oishee was crowned the new queen at the grand finale of Miss World Bangladesh 2018 held on 30th Septemeber 2018. She will now represent Bangladesh in Miss World 2018 to be held on 8th December 2018 in Sanya, China, where Miss World 2017 Manushi Chillar will crown the winner.

Jannatul is 18 years of age from the city of Pirojpur. She is going to pursue her undergraduate degree and, in school, she was from a science background. Jannatul has been advocating for the prevention of child marriage in her hometown. Along with that she also wants to address the issue of social deprivation experienced by citizens of her country from different walks of life.

Jannatul is a model who mostly deals with runways fashion shows. Along with that she is also enjoys singing, dancing, debating and performing in theatre shows. Jannatul indulges in playing sports like cricket and basketball to keep herself fit and healthy.

Jannatul was selected as the winner out of ten other finalists. Upon winning, she spoke to the media, saying, “I love my country and my culture. I have been fighting for myself as of now, but from now on, I have to fight for my country. It’s a great responsibility for me and I seek blessings from all.” In the event, Nishat Mawa Salwa and Naziba Bushra were awarded the positions of first and second runner-ups, respectively.

The Miss World Organization took to their Facebook page to announce Jannatul’s coronation saying, “Introducing... Bangladesh! Jannatul Ferdous Oishee took over the Miss World Bangladesh reign from her predecessor, Jessia Islam. Contestants worked hard, during three former months of preparation. The judging panel comprised of renowned Bangladeshi professionals and celebrities. Jannatul will be a goodwill ambassador for an organization that values children with special needs. Her personal motto is, do to others only what you want others to do to you.”

Jannatul succeeds Miss World Bangladesh 2017 Jessia Islam. Jessia represented Bangladesh in Miss World 2017. Jessia was placed in the Top 40 in the finale, and that is the closest Bangladesh has come to the coveted crown. She was also in the Top 10 in the People's Choice Award.
