Miss World, one of the most prominent pageants in pageantry, has always worked on its foundation of giving back to the community, most prominently through Beauty with a Purpose. Although Beauty with a Purpose has been an important part of Miss World since 1972, Julia Morley established the BWAP award only in 2005.
In 2005, Julia, the CEO and Chairman of Miss World Organization, established the Beauty with a Purpose award as a fast-track event. The award was established to motivate the Miss World delegates to work on advocating for charitable causes and become humanitarians to bring a change in the world.
The first ever Beauty with a Purpose award was presented to South Korea’s Eun-young as she made it to the semi-finals after winning the award and placed in the Top 6 at the end of the event finale of Miss World 2005 held in Sanya, China.
Eun-young won the award at the age of 18 with her work helping the elderly and children. She also advocated for the Dorcas Welfare Mission, the Dobong Women's Center and Korea Food for the Hungry International. The South Korean beauty queen etched her name in the Miss World history with her remarkable journey.
