Zara Josefa Mendes was crowned Miss World Guinea Bissau 2018 at the conclusion of Miss Guiné-Bissau 2018. She will now represent Guinea Bissau in the 68th edition of Miss World competition to be held later this year. Zara Josefa Mendes succeeds and was crowned by Sandra Marisa Araujo Monteiro, Miss World Guinea Bissau 2016.
Zara is 19 years of age and stands tall at 168 cm. She is a Business Management and Administration student at Catholic University. She works with a company called Finansas, Mexico and has completed her schooling from Escola São José, Brazil.
Her court included –
1st runner - up - Elunaida Natividade Gomes Lopes
2nd runner-up - Fátima Quadé Duchring Sá Nogueira
Other awards of the night were Miss Congeniality 2018 which was bagged by Viviane Nanduk and Miss Photogenic 2018 which was won by Alberto Queba.
Guiné-Bissau comes back in Miss World pageant after a hiatus of 1 year. Till date, Guinea Bissau has not been able to get a prominent place in Miss World pageant.
