Miss World Guyana 2016 Nuriyyih Gerrard is busy with her Beauty with a Purpose projects and duties these days. On 1st April 2017, the founder of One Act Foundation Guyana and Miss World Guyana 2016 Nuriyyih Gerrard launched the Guyana’s Social and Emotional Learning program (S.E.L) with a social gathering at the Botanical Gardens.

The program was launched during an event that saw the attendance of the various target groups, which also included the seven executive members of the One Act Foundation Guyana (OAF). Guyana has been taking all the measures to successfully work towards various projects aiming the benefits of the society. The Social and Emotional Learning program (S.E.L) aims at introducing young girls to One Act Foundation and promoting a trustworthy support.

The event was an insight to the OAF organisation and also gave an overview of the SEL Program. The event concluded with a brief session on how to encourage positive thinking through the use of affirmations! Since its launch, the OAF has added five more girls to the S.E.L program, bringing the total number of participants to 22!

Nuriyyih Gerrard has been an amazing Miss World Guyana. Ever since her crowning, the beauty queen has made sure to walk towards her project and duties as the reigning queen, in full zeal and vigour. Nuriyyih is a Radio Jockey by profession in Guyana. The beauty queen is a renowned personality in Guyana. She interned at the National AIDS Programme Secretariat, and as part of the communications strategy, she helped developed Shattered Hopes and Dreams, which was eventually made into a movie.

Miss World 2017 pageant will be held in China in the month of December. This year, the Miss World pageant will come up with a new format. The new format will include a greater emphasis on social media and interactivity throughout the 28 days festival. Also, Miss World is appointing New Silk Road Group (a leader in China's Fashion and Culture Industry) to operate the Miss World China Franchise. NSR will be a hosting partner for Miss World 2017 Final.
