Andrea King was crowned Miss World Guyana 2022 at the finale of the national competition on 15th October held last year at the National Cultural Centre. Andrea is a project manager at Guyana Telephone and Telegraph company (GTT).

Andrea, since her coronation, has been preparing to represent Guyana at Miss World 2023. She was also declared winner of the Multimedia challenge, Head-to-Head/Debate competition, Talent competition and the People’s Choice award.

Preparing for her international stint, Andrea is currently working on her Beauty With A Purpose project, ‘Project Flo’ which seeks to increase financial literacy amongst school children in order to help them make more intelligent, more effective financial decisions. King said this is particularly important given the trajectory of Guyana’s economy as an oil producing nation.

“As your Miss World National Representative, I have the opportunity to use my influence to make a positive impact in my country and the world at large. It is against this backdrop that I have decided to launch a project that addresses the ongoing absence of early financial literacy orientation in schools”, Andrea King quotes.

The project rollout has included a range of activities and initiatives, including financial education workshops, financial literacy school tours, and community events. “As I continue this mission, I will work with local schools, youth organizations, and community groups to raise awareness about the importance of financial literacy while advocating for the inclusion of a sound financial literacy syllabus in our educational system,” she said.

With the support of the whole organization, her parents and friends, King is ready to take on the Miss World 2023 stage. Miss World 2023, the 71st edition of the Miss World, is scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates in 2023. Miss World 2022 Karolina Bielawska of Poland will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
