Miss World Kenya organization held the finale of the 2021 edition on 28th August 2021 at the Trademark Hotel in Nairobi where Sharon Obara was crowned Miss World Kenya 2021. Obara has now become the official representative of Kenya at the upcoming edition of Miss World to be held in Puerto Rico later this year.

On being announced as the winner by the Mr and Miss World Kenya franchise Director Mrs Terry Mungai, Obara burst into tears as she bested fifteen other contestants to win the national crown. As the winner, she took home the crown and Sh250,000 prize money.

Obara is a Kenyan special education professional and a model. In March 2019, she walked the runway wearing a wedding dress in a Samantha’s Bridal bridal fashion show and in another fashion show wearing Monica Kanari‘s designs. As a special education professional, she attended an event for children with Down Syndrome, autism and cerebral palsy at the Tamarind Tree Hotel in Nairobi in 2019.

Apart from the winner, Chanton Kwamboka emerged as the first runner up and was awarded Sh150,000 while the second runner up was Mary Kwamboka who pocketed Sh70,000.

Obara succeeds Miss World Kenya 2019 Maria Wavinya who represented Kenya at Miss World 2019 and finished 12th at the international stage. She had to extend her stay in office by a year due to Covid-19 pandemic that shook the world, making it impossible for the pageant to be held in 2020. The outgoing Miss World Kenya said, "When I took the reins, I had a feeling my time would be different, I'm glad to have been able to champion menstrual health by providing reusable sanitary towels to girls in informal settlements for two years. My time has been fulfilling and it's now time to pass on the baton to someone else."

Congratulations to the newly crowned queen.
