Aïssatou Filly was crowned Miss Etoile Senegal 2018, also known as Miss World Senegal 2018, at the conclusion of the national event on 6th October 2018 at the Pullman Hotel, Dakar. She will now represent Senegal in Miss World 2018 to be held on 8th December 2018 in Sanya, China, where the reigning Miss World 2017 Manushi Chillar will be crowning the new international queen.
Aïssatou is 22 years of age with a height of 183 cm. She studies Marketing and Communication at the University of Cheikh Anta Diop, in Dakar, which is her hometown as well as the host city of Miss Etoile Senegal 2018. Aïssatou is also a model and has walked the runway for well-known shows like Fashion Week Gambia 2017 and Dakar Fashion Week. She thus had the confidence and stage presence that ultimately lead to her win.
Aïssatou is only the second delegate from Senegal sent for the Miss World pageant, the first being her predecessor Miss World Senegal 2017 Nar Codou Diouf. Although Nar Codou could not secure a position in the finale of Miss World 2017, her representation will always be considered very special.
Supporting Miss World Senegal 2018 Aïssatou Filly during her year-long reign are first and second runner-ups of Miss Etoile Senegal 2018, Sophie Khady Diop and Aissatou Samaké, respectively. The winners defeated five other deserving and beautiful Senegalese women competing for the same title.
