At the end of the coronation event of Miss Uganda 2018 at Sheraton Hotel held last night, Quinn Abenakyo was crowned the new queen by her predecessor Miss Uganda 2016 Leah Kagasa. Quinn will now represent Uganda at the upcoming Miss World 2018. The 22-year-old Quiin represented her district Mayuge at the national finale and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business computing. Twenty-two delegates competed for the national title.
Her court included-
First Runner-Up: Tyra Margach
Second Runner-Up: Aheebwa Patience Martha
Top 5 also included Sandra Khan Neema and Elizabeth Nanziri.
Last year, Uganda did not compete in Miss World 2017 and was last represented by Leah Kagasa in Miss World 2016. Leah looked ravishing in the gown she wore at the finale where she got diva treatment after the end of her two-year reign. She was also a part of the jury panel as she helped to select and crown the new queen.
Twenty-two Ugandan girls from various districts of Uganda competed for the title and the remaining candidates (besides the top 5 above) were Tereza Najja, Boonabaana Rich Shyla, Kyazze Jahel, Leah Kwakunda, Nabachwa Christine, Jullian Trisha Kyomhendo, Nakalema Mary Immaculate, Elizabeth Atuhaire, Akello Sandra, Namugga Mildred Tracy, Nakijoba Edisa Millica, Gloria Kabiito, Karen Nyangan, Patricia Nakaayi, Lynnette Kwagala, Ayo Racheal and Mary Talumbika.
Uganda has so far never won any Miss World title. From Africa, however, South Africa has won maximum Miss World titles (3), followed by Egypt and Nigeria (1 each).
