Pia Wurtzbach gives a reply on being called unfair in Miss Universe 2017

01 Dec 2017 | Srishti Jain

It started just after the announcement of Miss Universe 2017 Top 5 finalists of the gala night, when Rachel Peters did not make it in the list and the people on internet exploded with messages calling Pia Wurtzbach, an unfair judge and blaming her for Rachel Peters’ defeat in the competition.

Some called it revenge as both the queens come from different beauty pageant camp, Rachel being from Kagandahang Flores, while Pia was a product of Aces and Queens of Jonas Gaffud. Others even went to the extent of calling Pia jealous and insecure.

Word came out that Rachel aced the online voting; while no can deny that she was an early favourite among many. So, it didn’t sit well with people that Rachel didn’t make it to Top 5 final cut.

While Rachel has kept her mum on this topic, Pia defended herself in a video that has come out recently, where she states –

“I was fair, I was fair to everyone. Not just to Miss Philippines, but also to other candidates. And I think that’s why they chose me because they knew that I was going to be fair and impartial, when it comes to judging for choosing the next Miss Universe.”

Earlier also, just after the pageant ended Pia had a sweet message for Rachel in which she expressed how proud she is of her.

She wrote, “Thank you for making us proud. Sitting on the other side, it was so nice to witness a Miss Philippines perform and have the loudest cheer in the crowd. Keep your head up. We’re all so proud of you.”

For Pia, nobody and nothing should be blamed whenever Miss Philippines loses. She has already expressed this before when she was witnessed saying “I think it just so happened that you know, we haven’t seen a back-to-back yet at Miss Universe. But I don’t think that it has anything to do with the competition or the judges or the girl, our representative.”

Fair or not, we all can agree on both the queens being true inspirations, where people look up to these girls for their hard work and passion.
