Philippines’ Rabiya Mateo addresses online bullying and women empowerment in pageantry

Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo addressed the video circulating online where Indonesian fans tried to bully and say hateful comments to her. She addressed the online bullying and clarified all the accusations made against her.

Rabiya reposted the video posted by an Indonesian pageant page on her Instagram stories and clarified that the video was cut and that she was asked if she will accept a role in the future to which she responded that she wanted to be an antagonist in a series or a movie because she wants to challenge herself.

She wrote, “I have never done anything to discredit or insult other candidates but putting words in my mouth and creating problems out of nothing is just toxic and it has to stop. No one should be bullied even public figures because that is unkind and pure evil. We can support our own candidate without destroying others. This needs to stop. I have nothing but love for Indonesians.”

She also reminded everyone that everyone can support their candidates without destroying others because pageants should be fun and everyone should create a positive image in empowering women.
