The finale of Reinado Internacional del Café 2017, held on 7th January 2017 in Colombia, concluded with the crowning of Mexican beauty Marílú Acevedo as the winner. Marílú Acevedo was among our Top 5 favourites for the title. She succeeds Reinado Internacional del Café 2016 Maydeliana Diaz Parada from Venezuela.
22 year old Marílú Acevedo stands tall at 5’7, and defeated 27 other contestants to clinch the title. She is not new in the pageantry world, and was a finalist at the Miss World Mexico 2014 pageant. At the same pageant, Kerelyne Isell Campigotti (Honduras) was crowned the vice queen, Sara Croce (Italy) was titled the first runner-up, Francielly Soares (Brazil) was adjudged the second runner-up and Ana Cristina Díaz (Venezuela) finished as third runner-up.
In addition to announcing the winner and the runners-up, a series of Special Awards were also provided to the contestants under the following categories –

Marílú expressed her joy and said, “I’m speechless. I can just thank all the people from Manizales and everyone else watching, for all your love and support, and I promise that I will represent all the Colombian people in an extraordinary way. I already know that Colombian coffee is the best one in the world and it will still being it during my reign and the next years ahead. I promise to all the people from here that Manizales will be known internationally, because it’s not possible that this city with this pure and unique essence is unknown outside. So I will personally make sure you all get recognized internationally as it should be. I love you so much, thank you!”
The contest started with the introduction of the contestants donning their national costumes. The introduction was followed by the evening gown round, leading up to the announcement of the Top 5 finalists. The Top 5 had to then go through a series of Q&A related with the coffee theme.
