As all the nations are gearing up to select the representatives for all the international pageants, Trinidad and Tobago is also on its way to find the next Miss World T&T, who will represent T&T at Miss World 2017 pageant.
Final preparations of the pageant are underway and the screening is also right around the corner. Online applications for the pageant are being accepted. The pageant is coming up with a twisted screening this year. The delegates will go through a series of challenges to qualify for the next round. The challenges will include: Sports and fitness, talent, top model and interview.
Last year, Daniella Walcott represented the country at the Miss World 2016 pageant. She was appointed Miss World Trinidad and Tobago 2016 at a small ceremony held on April 8’ 2016 at Cara Suites and Conference Centre, Claxton Bay, wherein Kimberly Farah Singh at Miss World Trinidad and Tobago 2015 was also present. At the conclusion of the gala finale of Miss World Trinidad & Tobago 2017, Daniella will crown one of the finalists as her successor.
Miss World originally started as the Festival Bikini Contest, but an embarrassed British media decided to call it with a more modest name, ‘Miss World’. The pageant was met with a lot of criticism in the beginning, so much so that the swim suit was replaced with more modest swim suits after the first contest. The first Miss World (originally Festival Bikini Contest) was Kerstin "Kiki" Håkansson from Stockholm, Sweden. She was the first and last winner to be crowned while wearing a bikini.
