The island nation of Seychelles is set to return to Miss Universe stage after twenty-seven years. In a statement released on Sunday, Miss Maurice organization confirmed the news. The first and last time the Seychelles competed at Miss Universe was in 1995, when the pageant was hosted in Windhoek, Namibia.

“We are excited to share that the beautiful islands of the Seychelles will be competing at Miss Universe 2022! The Miss Maurice Organization and its partners (Mauritius, Seychelles, Asia, and the USA) are working together to bring more brand awareness about the licenses we held within the Indian Ocean,” read the official statement.

The organization further revealed that Madagascar too wants to send a representative to Miss Universe. They will be joining hands with Miss Maurice organization by next year. The last time Madagascar competed was in 1961 with Jacqueline Robertson.

“Madagascar is looking to join the partnership by sending their Miss Universe Madagascar next year. We can’t wait to see the young women from the Indian sharing their experiences together. Miss Seychelles, Miss Reunion, and Miss Rodrigues will join us as our guests at the Miss Maurice 2022 pageant in June,” the statement further read.
