The contentious crowning wasn't the only plot twist at this year's Miss Universe pageant. In a taped segment of the show, it was revealed that there would have been 81 contestants, but Miss Slovenia, Ana Halozan, had to pull out of the competition shortly after she arrived in Las Vegas after a serious fall that left her in hospital. The lady however took the finale stage in all glory and was awarded with applauds and appreciations as she graced the runway!
Prior to the finale, during the pageant, Miss Slovenia’s roommate, Miss Slovak Republic, Denisa Vysnovska, said she found the 19-year-old beauty queen in the bathroom having what seemed like an epileptic seizure. Denisa witnessed that the blood had dripped from Ana Halozan's nose and onto the floor. When asked if she was okay, Ana Halozan fell to the floor and was later taken to hospital. The severity of her condition became clear when she regained consciousness and realized that the right side of her face was paralyzed. The brunette beauty appeared on stage Sunday, December 20, following a seizure that left the right side of her face paralyzed.

Looking striking in a bold red dress, Ana Halozan appeared to be obliged as she received flowers and a hug from past winner Paulina Vega. Speaking to the camera in a taped interview shown on the screens, she said: "I came here like everybody and it all stopped within seconds. How did this happen to me? All I did was do my best and this had to happen now. When they said I can't go to the pageant, I asked: 'Are you joking?' I am going."
The much talked about host of the evening, Steve Havey explained while introducing Ana Halozan during the telecast: "She thought she had lost her chance, but she didn't. Let's give her that moment for fulfilling her dream of walking on the Miss Universe stage with her friends. Please welcome Miss Universe Slovenia."
Ana's mother, Mojca Marovt expressed: "Ana has always had big dreams. When she gets some idea in her head, nothing will stop her."As it turns out, her dreams were able to turn into a reality when host Steve Harvey introduced her to the stage Sunday night at the Planet Hollywood Resort.
When Ana graced the stage, she expressed: "Everybody else are like, you're going to be so sad that you won't be in pageant, but I said don't cry over me because I'm okay. Don't worry. I have moved forward. I will overcome this."
Miss Ana Halozan is expected to recover, but it will take time. Miss Lisa Marie White opined: "I didn't know about the incident but I admire and respect Ana so much. I am happy that she was still given the chance to walk on the Miss Universe stage. That was amazing." Miss Nuraliza Osman said: "When she came out, everyone in the auditorium was crying. They were so moved by her strength."
We wish Ana a speedy recovery and salute her determination and optimism!
