The coronation night of Miss Universe 2017 was one marvellous event, at the end of which Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa was crowned this year’s winner. The Universe can’t stop gushing about this stunning beauty, especially South Africa, and why not, she has made her nation so proud.
A plethora of wishes started pouring in after victory at Miss Universe 2017. From President Jacob Zuma, the ANCYL, Wayde van Niekerk to many other prominent figures gave their hearty wishes to the queen.
Demi bested 92 other candidates to clinch the coveted title in her name. She has satisfied the quench of her country after 38 long years.
The last to win the title of Miss Universe from South Africa was Margaret Gardiner in 1978.
She is 22 years and stands tall at 170 cm. She recently earned her degree in Business Management at North-West University after making history at her high school for holding two leadership positions.
Demi has dedicated her award to South Africa. She tweeted earlier with the caption, “South Africa, I love you. Thank you for everything. I am Miss Universe and this is for you.”
Her court included the lovely contestants from Colombia – Laura González and Jamaica - Davina Bennet as 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.
