The most anticipated Miss Earth 2016 pageant has finally concluded, and Ecuadorian beauty, Katherine Elizabeth Espín Gómez was crowned as the winner. Pageant fans and veterans had been positive about Katherine’s win since the beginning. At the same pageant, Miss Colombia Michelle Alejandra Gómez was titled the Miss Earth Air 2016, Miss Venezuela Stephanie Ysabel de Zorzi was adjudged the Miss Earth Water 2016, and Miss Brazil Bruna Zanardo finished as the Miss Earth Fire 2016.

The pageant started with the introduction of all the contestants, and then moved ahead with various Preliminary Rounds, simultaneously narrowing down the finalists. It was the final four from Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil, who chased the dream towards the coveted crown. However, the fate of the four finalists was sealed in the Q&A round. The 4 finalists went through a common Question and Answer round, based on which the winner and the elemental queen were announced. Question – "The Paris Agreement on Climate Change is a historic international deal that seeks to limit global warming to below 1.5 degrees centigrade. If you are selected as the Miss Earth 2016, what would be your program to protect mother earth from climate change?"
Miss Ecuador Katherine Elizabeth Espín Gómez – I truly believe on the 5 R’s, which is Rethink, Reuse, Reduce, Recycle and Respect. Because I believe that us as human beings, if we apply that to our everyday lives, we can make a change, and we will reduce the problem that we have just mentioned. If we apply that in our everyday lives, I believe we as human beings can save the place we live in, which is our Mother Earth. Thank you very much..!!
Miss Brazil Bruna Zanardo – Mabuhay Philippines!! My Project to protect my Mother Earth will be a project about Ecological conscientization. Just that way together, we can change everything that’s happening in the world today. If today I am elected as Miss Earth 2016, I promise to create a social environment culture.
