Half Filipino, Yuki Du Sonoda will be the official representative of Japan at the prestigious Miss Asia Pacific International 2017, slated to be held in Manila this November.  The announcement has been made by the current license holder of the organization, Stephen Diaz.

Standing tall at 168 cm, this aspiring lawyer has graduated from one of the top private universities in Japan, Rikkyo University in Tokyo. The stunner is no stranger to the pageant world as she also participated in Miss World Japan 2015 and Miss Supranational Japan 2016. She was the first runner-up in Miss Supranational Japan 2016.

“We actually planned to send Yuki last year to Palawan, the Philippines for the revival edition of Miss Asia Pacific International,” said Diaz, who also sent last year’s delegate, Natsuki Suzuki.  As the first runner-up during last year’s Miss Supranational Japan competition, Yuki was supposed to be sent to one of the international pageants where I own the Japanese license. Being the good girl that she was, she prioritized her studies and turned down my offers.  This year, however, she said that she wanted to do Miss Asia Pacific International. So, I did not have any second thoughts to appoint her,” Stephen Diaz added.

The beauty is currently preparing for the finale of Miss Asia Pacific International 2017 pageant. She thinks that as of the moment, her body is not yet ready to compete internationally, so she needs a meticulous training regimen.  She is also busy reading about international humanitarian issues in preparation for the interview round.

Her ambition is to become an international lawyer someday, she has always dreamed of becoming a beauty queen.  Instead of competing for her mother’s homeland, she decided to represent Japan.

No Japanese girl has ever won the Miss Asia Pacific International crown since its beginning as a regional pageant back in the late 1960s. Atsumi Ikeno was the first finalist in 1968 where she was adjudged as second runner-up and is so far the best placement till date.

Do you think Yuki can win the first ever crown for her country?
