22 Dec 2016 | Angelopedia

Every pageant these days is being followed by some or the other controversial matter or questionable judgement. Same has been the case with the Miss World 2016 pageant. The crowning of Miss World Puerto Rico 2016 Stephanie Del Valle ignited anger and agitation among Filipino fans. Following the anger and agitation, the incident lead to more controversies and now the internet is flooded with arguments and claims from all sources and about different previously untouched issues.

It is also being said that due to the commercialization of beauty pageants these days, the credibility of the results are highly questionable. But, the biggest revelation of Miss World 2016 pageant has been made by Miss World Brazil 2016 Beatrice Fontoura. The Brazilian beauty commented on a facebook post that "there wasn't enough food and water, there were candidates who slept with the pageant's staff and there were no panel of judges for the Beauty with a Purpose challenge event, and suspicious jurors".

The 26 year old Brazilian beauty also said that someday she might write a book on Miss World 2016. She said that she is happy that she made it to the Top 10 finalists at Miss World 2016 but in a shocking revelation, Fontoura said that there were many contestants who slept with the staff. Fontoura also said that there were no proper food or water supply to the delegates and many starved and fainted due to this careless treatment. She also raised the point that there was no judging panel for the “Beauty with a Purpose” project. All these shocking revelations have given a new angle to the already controversial Miss World 2016 finale.

What is also fuelling the already burning fire is the fact that one of the judges at the Miss World 2016 pageant was Wilnelia Merced (national director of Miss World Puerto Rico). Wilnelia is a former Miss World from Puerto Rico and her mother is the national franchise holder of Miss World Puerto Rico. Any National Director or Franchise Holder of a beauty pageant should not be allowed to become a judge because whether they do it or not, but the blame is always going to be there about them favouring their girls, especially if the contestant ends up winning the crown.

Puerto Rico is not the only target in the whole scenario; people are also questioning Indonesia’s placement among the Top 3. Liliana Tanoesoedibjo, the Owner and National Director of Miss Indonesia was also among the judging panel of the Miss World 2016. Now that everyone is talking about it, what is also being said is that since the National Director of Miss Indonesia was among the judges at the Top Model contest, Miss Indonesia was placed second at the contest. This is also being stretched to the results of “BWAP” winner.
