In a week, the Philippines will crown its representative for the Miss World 2016 pageant, and the reigning queen Hillarie Parungao will relinquish her crown and her title. As Hillarie is about to pass on her crown on 2nd October 2016, the beauty queen revealed her expectations she has from her successor.

“As I keep on saying before, I want someone who’s sincere and true to herself because not everybody gets the opportunity to represent our country and wear a crown,” said Hillarie mentioning the most important thing she looks for in the next queen. Hillarie voiced out that she is looking for someone who understands the importance of the title and the value of the crown, and shouldn’t just do it for fame.

25 years old Hiillarie revealed that for her beauty pageants go way beyond the physical aspect. “I really want somebody who has it in her heart that no matter what happens after the competition, she will still be a queen inside and out,” she said.

In addition to sharing her expectations and requirements, the beauty queen also shared some words of wisdom for the next Miss World Philippines.  “Whoever you are, I wish that you would be true to yourself all the time, always be happy, keep your head up and put your feet on the ground always,” she said.

Taking about her own experience, Hillarie said that she has kept herself busy with various organisational activities and advocacies. In addition to indulging in social charitable work, Hillarie has also enjoyed a year full of tempting offers in commercials, fashion shows, acting and workshops.

Reminiscing on her journey as a contestant of Miss World Philippines 2015, Hillarie said, "I was asked actually by one of the sponsors earlier 'how do you feel now that you're seated here?' And I was telling them that I can just imagine how I looked like last year too when I was a candidate. Now that I'm looking at them, we already have the favored candidates and all that for now, you know. But, I just really hope that whoever wears my crown next will be true to herself and will love the country as much as I do to represent this.”

The finale of Miss World Philippines 2016 will kick start at 10:00pm, and the winner will have the opportunity to be represent the country at the Miss World 2016 pageant. Catriona Elisa Magnayon Gray is the front runner for the title this year. But, only the finals night will decide who gets to wear the coveted crown. Who are you rooting for?
