Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach from Cagayan de Oro has been crowned as Miss Universe Philippines 2015 (Bb Pilipinas 2015) at the conclusion of the grand finale of the national pageant held on March 15’ 2015 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City, Philippines. Pia was crowned by her predecessor Mary Jean Lastimosa, Miss Universe Philippines 2014 and will now represent Philippines at the Miss Universe 2015 pageant.
Pia, 24, is from Cagayan de Oro. She took cooking classes at Café Ysabel and worked for several months in England, before coming back to Manila. Pia Alonzo is a former ABS-CBN Star Magic artist and also a popular actress and model. Pia has been her family’s bread earner and care taker, and believes this to be one of the best things that happened to her. She says, “I was 11 when I stepped up to become a breadwinner through modeling and acting. Now I’m glad that they’re settled and finally okay. This experienced helped me mature a lot, and I don’t regret it.”
As the final night of Bb Pilipinas 2015 commenced, after a string of special awards and two tier preliminary competitions, it was time to announce the Top 15. The Top 15 finalists further were scrutinized under the radar of Question and Answer session. After the Q&A session, the panel of judges declared the winners for the night –
Janicel Lubina was crowned Bb Pilipinas International 2015, and will now represent Philippines at the Miss International 2015 pageant. Christi Lyn McGarry was crowned ?Bb Pilipinas Intercontinental 2015 and will represent Philippines at Miss Intercontinental 2015. Rogelie Catacutan was crowned Bb Pilipinas Supranational 2015 and will be representing Philippines at the Miss Supranational 2015. Ann Lorraine Colis was crowned Bb Pilipinas Tourism International 2015 and will now represent Philippines at the Miss Tourism International 2015.
