The pageant was intended as a prestigious fund-raising activity for projects to benefit orphans, poor families and other less fortunate members of Philippine society. The Philippines, through BPCI, has produced the country’s best beauties. It offered Philippines with two Miss Universe winners - Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margarita Moran in 1973, four Miss International winners - Aurora Pijuan in 1970, Melanie Marquez in 1979, Lara Quigaman in 2005 and Bea Santiago in 2013, and one Miss Supranational winner, Mutya Datul Miss Supranational in 2013.
Apart from producing the country’s best beauties as representatives in various international competitions, BPCI has been a key partner and played a crucial role in nation-building, providing skills training, educational workshops, mission work, and other significant services for the marginalized sectors of the community.
