Miss America 2017 was the 96th edition of the Miss America pageant. The finale of Miss America 2017 was held at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Sunday, September 11, 2016. At the conclusion of the Miss America 2017 pageant Savvy Shields from Arkansas was crowned as the winner. Savvy succeeds Miss America 2016 Betty Cantrell.The finale was broadcast by ABC in the United States with Dick Clark Productions producing the ceremony. Miss America 2016 Betty Cantrell (Miss Georgia 2015) crowned Savvy as her successor at the end of the event.

Miss America Organisation is a non-profit organization that controls and oversees the local, state, and national competition framework and hosts the annual Miss America Competition and telecast. Miss America is a scholarship pageant that is held annually and is open to women from the United States between the ages of 17 and 24.
It originating started as a "bathing beauty revue" in 1921, and is now judged on competitors' talent performances and interviews in addition to their physical appearance. Miss America travels about 20,000 miles a month, changing her location every 24 to 48 hours, touring the nation and promoting her particular platform of interest.
