First round of audition for Miss Earth India moved on floors on 27th February 2016 in Delhi, India. The search for the new face is on, and the first 11 finalists from Delhi auditions have been selected to represent India on an international platform.
The eleven candidates are: Adya Shrivastava (Madya Pradesh), Sakshi Gupta (Uttar Pradesh), Rashi Yadav (New Delhi), Apurva Kumarley (Gujarat), Divyanshi Jain (Uttar Pradesh), Rewati Chetri (Assam), Shaan (Madya Pradesh), Gurusha Gandhi (Uttar Pradesh) Nikeeta Bellgard (New Delhi), Pooja Katyal (New Delhi) and Himani Sharma (New Delhi).
The candidates need to be aware about the environmental and social issues like female feticide, women’s education, etc. Miss Earth pageant has established an entirely new meaning and definition for ‘not to be just another beauty pageant’, but a pageant with a cause which crowns beauty with a responsibility to save the earth.
This year, there will be two major themes for the Miss Earth India pageant - One is ‘Saving Girl Child’ and another is ‘Saving Earth’ – and keeping India Green. The winner will represent India at Miss Earth 2016 later this year, where participants will come from 90+ Countries to try their luck.
The activities will be organized on the theme of ‘BETI BACHAO - BETI PADAO’ (Save Girl Child –Educate Girl Child) to select the aspirants to compete in further rounds.
Another major motive of the pageant is to support the welfare services and improve the efficiency of Women in India. Growbiz Consult's co-founder and national director Cheryl T Hansen will lead the grooming of candidates.
The national pageant of Miss Earth for India is being conducted by Growbiz Consult Pte. Ltd. for the year 2016, to which Carousel Productions, the owner of Miss Earth, awarded the franchise to Ms. Cheryl T Hansen & appointed director Mr. Pradeep Maithani in 2016.
The reigning Miss Earth India is Aaital Khosla from Chandigarh. She is the first Miss Earth India under Glamanand and was crowned on 4 November 2015 at Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Gurgaon.
