Miss Earth India is an annual national beauty pageant that selects representatives for the Miss Earth pageant. It is a newly formed national pageant, undertaken by the “Glamanand” organisation, with effect from the year 2015. The Miss Earth is an annual International beauty pageant advocating the restoration and preservation of the environment.
The national proprietor for the Miss Earth India pageant initially was 21-years old Nikhil Anand from Darbhanga, India. He is also the national director for Miss Tourism pageant, India. The franchise of Miss Earth India was passed on to Glamanand Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. in 2015. For the first-time in Indian pageant history, a separate pageant has been held to elect Miss Earth India. Earlier, Femina held the franchise for Miss Earth. India’s representatives to Miss Earth were elected by Femina Miss India, which was founded in 1964. The first runner up of the Femina Miss India contest was titled as “Femina Miss India Earth”, whereas the winner used to represent India at Miss World.
The new franchise holder of Miss Earth India is Pradeep Maithani.
With one Miss Earth winner (2010), two Miss Earth - Air winners (2006 and 2007) and plenty of finalists, India is considered as the fourth best performing country at Miss Earth.
The reigning Miss Earth India is Aaital Khosla, who won the title on November 4' 2015.
Alankrita Sahai won the title of Misss Earth India 2014 on October 14, 2014, when Miss Earth India was still under Femina Miss India franchise.
Ever since the inception of Miss Earth pageant, India has been an active participant, sending delegates to Miss Earth pageant, every year.
