Andrea Martinez from Las Vegas was crowned as Miss Nevada 2017. She will now represent her state at the Miss America 2018, in Atlantic City, New Jersy, on September10, 2017. The event will be broadcast by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Miss America 2017 and Miss Arkansas 2016, Savvy Shields, will officially crown her successor.
There were total 16 contestants who competed for the coveted crown. As the new Miss Nevada, Andrea Martinez won a $10,000 scholarship. During the show, which each ran two hours, entertainment was provided by The Golden Nuggett and Smith Center solo singer, Frankie Moreno and Nashville country singer, Caleche Ryder, who was Miss Nevada in 2007. Christy Molasky performed the opening with national anthem.
Last year’s winners — Miss Nevada Bailey Gumm, celebrated her 22nd birthday, and crowned the winners with their new tiaras and sashes.
“This weekend, the lives of two young women will forever change,” said the Miss Nevada Pageant Director Jodi Hale Fonfa, who steps down from the role after three years of service of raising funds for its Scholarship Organization to return to the national Miss America organization.
