Winning one of the major international crowns is certainly a surreal feeling, but when this overwhelming joy is tainted by bitterness, the girl who won the world with her dedication is bound to feel hurt. Recently, in an interview with Boy Abunda, the reigning Miss Earth, Angelia Ong expressed her feelings over her reception after winning the third Miss Earth crown for Philippines and first ever back to back win at the said pageant.
It is disheartening to see the little fanfare homecoming for Angelia Ong as Miss Earth to her homeland, Philippines, wherein even the runner ups are warmly received with a grand homecoming. When Angelia Ong returned back to her homeland after her victory in Austria, she was not welcomed with a parade or lavish homecoming ceremony. Though Angelia had a series of interviews with the local press, she evaded in the pageant season with little fanfare.

Angelia Ong is pretty aware of the fact that her win is pretty much controversial. When asked by Boy Abunda about the perception of the people who believe that the Miss Earth 2015 pageant rigged, Angelia said: “You can’t please everyone. People were very aggressive, they would go to my Instagram account and call me ‘fraud’.” She specified that Latino fans are the most vocal in tagging the results as fraud.
Undoubtedly, Angelia is someway hurt by the allegations. But as a congenial beauty queen, she is trying her best to overlook these indictments despite being affected. Angelia also opined that her victory is toughly earned and she will not allow anyone to filch something that she truly deserves. Well, that is a mark of a true beauty queen, the lady who never gives up is a beauty queen by heart.
