It was a very deserving win for Sonia Fergina Citra when she bagged the crown of Miss Universe Indonesia 2018 during the grand finale of Puteri Indonesia 2018 held on 9th March 2018. The finale saw Sonia defeat 39 other finalists from all over Indonesia.

The 25-year-old dive with lips and eyes to be mesmerised by is a British literature student who was born in Tanjung Pandan and is from Bangka Belitung. She is multilingual with the ability to speak fluently in English, Bahasa and Indonesian languages.

Sonia is no stranger to the pageant world as she was awarded the second position in Faces of Youth Model of Babel 2005, winner of Champion III Faces of Youth Model Jakarta 2005, Model Atrium Mall in Style 2005 Jakarta, Dara I Dayang Belitung 2007, and Tourism Babylon 2010. Sonia also received a photogenic award at Dayang Babel 2007 along with being Top 10 of Putri Pariwisata Indonesia 2010 and Top 10 of Miss Oriental Tourism 2012.

This Indonesian beauty has very intense hobbies as she likes Muay Thai, Taekwondo and Capoeira. She is the ambassador of Taekwondo in Bangka Belitung Province since 2012 and has been training in Taekwondo since she was in 3rd grade.

Apart from having a tough exterior, Sonia is actually very softhearted as she is associated with the organization “Diberi Untuk Members,” where she helps provide free food to janitors, takes part in school renovation and education assistance. Sonia is also involved in several environmental conservation activities that involve coral reef adoption at Tanjung Kelayang beach, Belitung.

Sonia is a force to reckon with which is why she is one of Angelopedia’s Top 20 favourite contestants for the crown. Her conviction, determination and hardworking nature with certainly help her win the crown, and if not so, make a very significant mark during the finale.
