Binibining Pilipinas 2018 was one of the most anticipated instalments of the pageant. With Catriona Gray being crowned the Miss Universe Philippines 2018, Philippines is quite confident about her representation at the Miss Universe 2018 pageant. She seems like the perfect candidate for Miss Universe 2018, and that has only added to the celebration that is currently going on in the Philippines since her crowning.
However, in almost a four-hour long show, filled with glitter and pomp, there were many sections and performances that kept the audiences glued to their seats. After the Top 25 were announced, the swimsuit competition was held. The Best in Swimsuit award was given to Binibini 20 Catriona Gray.
After tallying the numbers of the Top 25, Top 15 were announced, and then came one of the most exciting events of the evening, the evening gown competition. Catriona won that as well.
Though Catriona may have emerged as the ultimate winner, a few other girls were hard to ignore as they walked out in their long embellished gowns. More than the rhinestones on their dresses, the contestants glittered.

Binibini 3 Muriel Orais (Top 15 Semi-Finalist)
Muriel wore a pristine white gown that put us in a dilemma at first. The gown had a feeling of nostalgia, from the front slit, as it resembles Miss Universe 2017 Demi’s Miss Universe gown’s slit. Although the slit wasn’t as lucky for Muriel as it was for Demi, it did put her in the limelight, and the bold choice was much appreciated.
Binibini 14 Samantha Bernardo (Bb. Pilipinas 2018 2nd runner-up)
Although Binibini 19 Michele Gumabao (Bb. Pilipinas Globe 2018) also wore a dress in a similar shade of yellow, as Samantha Bernardo, Samantha was successful in standing out of the crowd. The cut of her dress and the long train sleeves, definitely did the trick when it came to the ramp walk. They were mesmerizing, and the colour of the dress was just perfect for Samantha’s skin tone.
Binibini 20 Catriona Gray (Miss Universe Philippines 2018)
It is easy to say why Catriona took the trophy for the Evening Gown section. The beige studded gown was a classic choice, and Catriona’s aura, as she walked down the stage, only added to it. The negligible sheer panelling was a perfect choice, and Catriona’s curves got accentuated in just the right way.
Binibini 31 Jehza Mae Huelar (Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2018)
The deconstructed mermaid bottom was a bold choice for Jehza. Pageant audiences generally do not like the introduction of bold cuts at the stage, but this dress was well received. The light beige colour and the pageant typical embellishment of the dress brought the beauty of the frilled hemline.
Binibini 32 Eva Patalinjug (Bb. Pilipinas Grand International 2018)
The choice of the colour is beautiful. The light burnt peach colour with the oxidized silver thread embroidery gives Eva’s dress an old world charm. It pays tribute to the early pageant dresses, while the cut and the fit of the gown maintained the modern feel. Surely a choice that was not regretted later.
