The very first Miss Earth, Catahrina Svensson Brink is now the co-director of Miss Earth Denmark pageant owned by the Face of Denmark Organization. Catharina will now play a vigorous role as the Co-Director for Miss Earth Denmark, guiding and mentoring the Danish beauties to be the next earth warriors. The active association of a living icon will augment Denmark's visibility yet again at Miss Earth.

A very eminent Danish lawyer, model and beauty queen who won the first ever Miss Earth edition in 2001, Catharina is now eager to uplift her nation’s performance at Miss Earth pageant. In 2015 edition of Miss Earth held in Vienna, Austria, Catharina was one of the judges in the panel of venerable judges.

At the time of her crowning, the 19-year-old Svensson was a third year law student and a part-time model. It was her first time to participate in any beauty contest. In the final Question-Answer round, when asked, “How do you propose to find a balance between Technology and Earth preservation?” The Danish beauty confidently replied: “Well, of course technology does make a lot of problems for us in the environment. But we can do something to make it better. For example in Denmark, we do a lot of farming and we use a lot of technology to make it easier for us. But that also means that we use a lot of chemicals that spread and go down to a ground water and makes the ground water worse. So what we can do and what we are doing at the moment is to try to make a regulations on what chemicals are allowed to be used and also thereby make controls of it so we can use those chemicals less.” Her answer impressed the judges, and Catharina embedded into history as the first Miss Earth ever.

In October 2005, she went back to the Philippines and served as one of the judges in the Miss Earth 2005, the fifth edition of the pageant. Catharina is now married to Jan Brink, a seven-time Swedish dressage champion. Denmark failed to make a cut in finale at Miss Earth after 2001, but with Catharina’s efforts Denmark can surely retract the worthy position soon!
