I can really get a sense of how big of an impact it made,” said Wurtzbach. When asked about the Filipinos fascination with beauty pageants, Pia said, “I think Filipinos like it when they see their fellow countrymen do well in an international arena or an international level. It’s always very inspiring for them. It’s like watching Manny Pacquiao win a fight in boxing. That’s how it feels like for the Philippines,” she explained. “We’re very passionate with beauty pageants. So when a girl wins a crown, let alone Miss Universe… it’s a big deal. It makes them feel ‘okay, if she can do it, so can I. I can, too.’,” she continued

Pia was also very confident in putting forward her views about sharing the crown and said, “I think that it would be very difficult for two girls to share the crown and the responsibilities, to split responsibilities between two ladies.
