It has been 44 years since Brazil won the coveted Miss World title. Lúcia Petterle was the first Brazilian Miss World, since then Brazil had two runner ups, numerous semi-finalists and assorted finalists, but the quest for crown is still ongoing! In Miss World 2013, Sancler Frantz was one of the Top 6 finalists, and was ranked fourth in the finale leader board score. She was also titled as the Continental Queen of Americas, bagging Beach Fashion subtitle along with placing fifth at Beauty with a Purpose challenge, closed door interview and Top Model round. Sancler was assumed as a front runner by many, but the hope went in despair when the coronation night prevailed. In 2014, Julia Gama bagged the fifth position at Beauty with a Purpose challenge and third position in Interview scores, also becoming a Top 11 semi-finalist, making Brazil’s feet firm at the platform of Miss World. This year, Catharina Choi Nunes will represent Brazil at Miss World, slated to be held in Sanya, China on December 19th.

Miss World Brazil underwent a huge controversy in 2015. After the crowning, the organization found that Ana Luisa Castro was married to a Belgian actor Tanguy Backer. Ana Luisa is second black woman to win the crown in the pageant’s long history, but was soon dethroned, passing on the title to her 1st runner-up, Catherine Choi Nunes, Miss Mundo Ilhabela, who will now wear the sash of Brazil at Miss World 2015 in China. Catherine was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil. Her mother is Korean and her father is Half Spanish and Half Portuguese born in Brazil. She represented Korea at Miss Earth 2013 where she was adjudged as Miss Earth Fire.

Catharina Choi Nunes has also been appointed as a goodwill ambassador of the World Taekwondo Federation on 13' October 2015. The 25 years old diva was presented with an appointment plague by WTF President Chungwon Choue in a ceremony held at the office of the Braziianl Taekwondo Federation. Choi Nunes is at present committed to taekwondo in Sao Paolo and hopes to become a black-belt holder before the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. In July this year, the WTF also appointed Miss USA 2014, Nia Sanchez as a goodwill ambassador, who was also the runner up to the reigning Miss Universe, Paulina Vega. Catharina Choi Nunes is definitely a noteworthy personality and will surely not slip Julia Morley’s unadulterated spectacle!

She hopes to be the host of her own TV show some day. Catharina has had several roles on Korean TV, and has also worked as a reporter at the Brazil Football World Cup. She loves swimming and golf, and holds deep interest in playing piano, apart from enjoying samba dance. Excelling the Multimedia segment through her active social media platform, via facebook and twitter, Catharina has managed to garner immense support and love from the pageant enthusiasts all over the globe.
A pageant veteran, Catharina having an angelic face along with the effervescent personality is a total head turner in Miss World 2015. Being an eloquent personality, she is definitely not to be underestimated. In Miss Earth 2013, in the final question and answer round, she was asked: “So many diff forms of discrimination today. What do you think is the worst one?” To which she smilingly replied: “I don't think there is a worse. Any kind of discrimination is bad!”
