In the ongoing controversy of Donald Trump’s remark over Mexicans and Latinas, countries and sponsors have already decided to boycott the Miss Universe beauty pageant. As Mexico confirmed its withdrawal from the pageant, the latest to join the league is Costa Rica. The Miss Costa Rica franchise, owned by the Teletica television network (Televisora de Costa Rica) made the announcement in their evening bulletin that the winner of Miss Costa Rica 2015 will not participate in the Miss Universe 2015, until and unless Trump apologizes for his comments.
The television network clearly stated that they demand either an apology from Trump or the Miss Universe pageant should choose a different organisation which is not related to Trump. The network also stated that it will not broadcast the Miss Universe pageant, but the Miss Costa Rica pageant will take place as usual.
The real estate mogul and television personality, Donald Trump said on June 16 that "Mexican immigrants are bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists,” in the speech he gave launching his bid for the Republican presidential nomination. The foot in mouth statement of Trump has landed the Miss Universe pageant in a deep pool of controversies and debates. The finale of Miss Costa Rica 2015 is scheduled to be held on July 31' 2015. Now the question is, If not Miss Universe, where will the winner of Miss Costa Rica 2015 represent??
