While Ecuador reached its highest placement in the Trump era, in Miss Universe 2013 wherein Constanza María Báez Jalil was titled as second runner up to Gabriella Isler of Venezuela, the nation is yet to crack a placement in semi-finals since then. The search for next Miss Ecuador is on fire, and the finale of Miss Ecuador 2016 pageant is slated to be held on March 12, 2016 in Machala, Ecuador.
The winner of Miss Ecuador 2016 pageant will go on to compete at Miss Universe 2016 while the first runner-up will be crowned as Miss Ecuador International and will go on to compete at Miss International 2016. The second runner-up will be crowned as Miss Supranational Ecuador and will go on to compete at Miss Supranational 2016.
Francesca Cipriani, who represented Ecuador at Miss Universe 2015 in Las Vegas on 20’ December 2015 will pass on her crown to her successor at the end of the event. This year 15 delegates will be giving neck to neck fight to each other to grab the crown.
Ecuador has been participating at Miss Universe since 1955. In the span of 60 years, Ecuador has placed only thrice in the semi-finals at Miss Universe, five times at Miss International, winning one Miss International crown through María Fernanda Cornejo Alfaro in 2011. Ecuador started its participation at Miss Supranational in 2009 and has only one placement at the same through Alexandra Sulay Castillo Velasco who was also the 4th runner up at Miss Supranational 2012.
