The gale finale of Miss Universe Malta 2018 held last night concluded with the crowning of Francesca Mifsud from Zejtun as Miss Universe Malta 2018. She succeeds and was crowned by Miss Universe Malta 2017 Tiffany Pisani, and will now represent Malta in Miss Universe 2018 pageant to be held later this year. Francesca also won the special award for Best Physique at the event.

Her court included first runner-up Lyann Iles from Qawra and second runner-up Marilena Gauci from Mellieha.
Other candidates who made it to Top 5 were Bernadette Bajada from Valletta and Martine Cutajar from Floriana. Jeanette Bezzina from Mosta, Nicole Belenska from Msida, Jaelle Micallef from Pembroke, Danica Debono from San Gwann and Tamara Micallef from Zurrieq made it to Top 10, but could not proceed further in the contest.
Other contestants who competed at the event were Razan Borg, Ellie Davies, Solange Ciantar, Anthea Attard, Christabel Farrugia, Marie Louise Sammut, Jesaia Saliba, Anabella Deikala, Carlise Mizzi, Mikela Attard, Desirei Grech, Martina Sammut and Charlene Scerri.

Francesca, who is an aspiring lawyer, is not new to the pageant world of beauty pageants and modelling, having participated in several beauty pageants and modelling campaigns before. She has earlier competed in Miss Universe Malta 2016, where she was amongst the Top 15 finalists. She was also crowned Best Model of the World Malta 2016 at the finale held in Istanbul, Turkey. Next year, she was appointed Miss Intercontinental Malta 2017, though could not compete in Miss Intercontinental 2017 pageant due to personal engagements.
And now finally, she has earned the privilege of representative Malta in prestigious Miss Universe 2018 international beauty pageant, for which her candidate does look promising.
What do you think? Can she be the first ever Miss Universe from Malta?
