26 years old Heather Elwell was crowned Miss Maine USA 2015 and will now represent Maine at the Miss USA 2015 pageant. Elwell lives and works at Down East Magazine in Portland, Maine. “When I first started competing in pageants, I did it because it looked like fun. I came to find out that it really is fun and an experience that will help you discover who you really are. Each year, I’ve become stronger as a person and I love knowing that some of my best qualities have been unleashed through competing. I’m wicked (as Mainers say) talented at time management and relationship building, I can easily network and make connections, my health is at an all-time high and I’m proud that I can work a runway in five-inch heels!” says Heather Elwell.

Heather has a thing for the outdoors and her favourite pastime is fishing and hiking. She also holds a deep inclination towards music. She was chosen as one of seven flautists to attend Florida State University's College of Music where she obtained two college degrees in Music and Economics. As a musician, Heather has travelled to many countries and one of her best performances was on The Great Wall of China in Beijing. She is currently volunteering at the Children's Hospital to perform music as a type of therapy to children with cancer.

Heather is not someone who is new to the pageants. She was the Semi Finalist in Miss FL USA 2009 and 2010 and was a participant at Miss FL USA 2011. Since 2012 she has been trying for Miss Maine USA and has been placed as first runner-up for consecutively three years. Finally in 2015 she managed to win the pageant and earn the privilege of representing Maine at Miss USA 2015. Heather says, “As soon as I claimed first runner-up at Miss Maine USA 2014, I told everyone that I would be back and that it was not in God’s timing for me to wear the crown and sash. I took that energy and used it to prepare as if I had never competed in a pageant before, and went through all of the steps to perfect my body, walk and wardrobe. By putting all of my energy in and having faith, I left it on the stage, and I’m now your Miss Maine USA 2015.
