At the coronation night held late last year of Miss Texas Teen USA 2019, history was made when Kennedy Edwards was crowned the first black woman in the history of the pageant. She succeeds and was crowned by Miss Texas Teen USA 2018 Brenna Flynn. The gorgeous beauty was the most shocked person in the room as she was announced the winner. Here is the iconic crowning moment of the newly crowned queen –

Kennedy is 18 years of age and hails from Pearland. A formidable contender, Kennedy amazed everyone with her poise and confidence at her state finals. Being fairly new to the pageantry as Miss Texas Teen USA 2019 was her second pageant, she made up for it in self-discipline, hard work and dedication. The Texas beauty has proven that she will be a strong competition in the national pageant.

Education is of utmost importance for the newly crowned beauty queen. Encouraged by her seventh grade teacher, Kennedy joined the debate team and went on to become High School Debate President, earned awards in public speaking, excelled academically, and graduated third in her class. Because of her academic merit, Kennedy was awarded a Capstone Scholarship by Howard University, where she is a freshman majoring in Political Science.  After this, she wishes to go to law school and become a civil rights attorney.

As Miss Texas Teen USA 2019, Kennedy wishes to advocate about voter registration amongst young people and encourage them to register and to exercise their right to vote. Already eyeing the internship with a 2020 political campaign, Kennedy has high aims for herself which she intends to achieve.

Texas has already won the Miss Teen USA title thrice till now; Christie Lee Woods was crowned Miss Teen USA in 1996, after that Danielle Doty was crowned Miss Teen USA 2011 and then Karlie Hay of Texas was crowned Miss Teen USA 2016. Last year, Brenna Flynn represented Texas in Miss Teen USA 2018 but unfortunately failed to win a place in the top.
