Russia's biggest, longest running, and most talked about beauty pageant, Krasa Rossii also known as Beauty of Russia, will now send its main winner to Miss Earth Pageant. In recent years, the runner ups to the main winner were sent to Miss Earth. Traditionally, the main winner did not compete internationally, but served as the spokesperson of the organization, just akin to USA's Miss America and Italy's Miss Italia. But 2016 will be marking a revolution at Krasa Rossii.

Krasa Rossii, The Beauty of Russia is an annual national pageant in Russia that sends the country's representatives to the Miss Earth pageant. The pageant was established in 1995 and one of the two longest-running beauty contests in Russia. It has also been acknowledged as the Beauty Olympics in Russia. The pageant also used to send delegates to Miss Asia Pacific erstwhile.

After Anastasia Trusova’s outstanding finish as Miss Earth Fire at Miss Earth 2014, it seems that Russia is enthusiastic to win its first Miss Earth crown. Anastasia not just won Miss Earth Fire elemental crown at the pageant but was also awarded with the titles of Miss Pontefino Residences and Miss Boardwalk. She stood 1st in the Evening Gown segment, Second in National Costume in Europe and 3rd in the Cocktail Wear round. In 2015, Maria Chudakova represented Russia at Miss Earth 2015 in Vienna, Austria, where she bagged 3rd position in Long Gown Competition and first position at Snowman Building but could not make the cut to semi-finals in the finale gala.

In the span of 15 years of Miss Earth’s inception, Russia has placed five times at the said pageant. In November 2015, Aleksandra Cherepanova was crowned as Krasa Rossi 2016 which makes her the first confirmed delegate of Miss Earth 2016. Many pageant enthusiasts around the globe are seeing her as one of the front runners, assuming that Russia knows the formula to get in the spotlight of Miss Earth pageant. Do you feel the same?
