As Miss Universe Colombia organization released the new rules which only included natural-birthed women to participate in the national contest, it caused quite an uproar amongst the pageant fanatics and the transgender community for inclusion. Mara Cifuentes, a stunning transgender beauty, wanted to participate in the national pageant but unfortunately couldn’t due to the newly established rules.
When contacted, Natalie Ackermann, the owner of the franchise replied that he had a conversation with Mara about the issue of inclusion and does not close to change the rule, so he mentioned in a statement that it would be done in the future. He reiterated that the rules of the contest are in a transition, since Colombians must first be prepared to put aside the tradition established for years in Cartagena.
Mara, a businesswoman and model by profession, wants to re-educate Colombians in terms of beauty pageant issues. The stunning beauty shows immense potential to be a Miss Universe Colombia queen and if the changes are brought in the coming years, she could definitely give the pageantry a go. Mara became famous after her participation in the reality show 'La Agencia'.
Natalie Ackermann has also said that this would be a way to re-educate people. He also stressed that they are in a transition between a beauty contest that was very conservative and with certain traditions, so it is going to undergo several changes, however, they cannot be from one day to the next, making it clear that first you have to adapt people to this. It will be wonderful watching Mara participate in the pageant in the future if the organization sticks to their decisions of bringing a change.
