Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach from Cagayan de Oro was crowned as Miss Universe Philippines 2015 (Bb Pilipinas 2015) at the conclusion of the grand finale of the national pageant held on March 15’ 2015 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City, Philippines. Pia was crowned by her predecessor Mary Jean Lastimosa, Miss Universe Philippines 2014 and will now represent Philippines at the Miss Universe 2015 pageant.

Mary Jean Lastimosa took a final walk as the reigning beauty queen of Philippines on the final night before passing her crown to Pia. It has been an exceptional year for the outgoing queen.  Mary Jean was crowned as the Miss Universe Philippines 2014, she took part in the competition for the third time in 2014 where she seized the crowned and eventually won the annual beauty pageant held at the Araneta Coliseum. Every competition Mary Jean Lastimosa was a part of made her a better, matured person and taught her different lessons in life. Having a strong belief in god, in an interview with Cot Media Center she said that ‘With sheer determination I will do the best I can but at the end of the day, It is gods decision that will prevail’. Mary Jean made her mark by placing in the Top 15 semi-finalists at the Miss Universe 2014, she may not have won the Miss Universe 2014 but received a lot of love and support from her fans not only from the Philippines but from around the world.

An emotional Mary Jean Lastimosa shared her feelings on social networking site Facebook, here’s what Mary Jean Lastimosa wrote -

“I barely cry in public coz I always try to show everyone that im strong, that I can face anything, but tonight I might. The Binibining Pilipinas journey was quite long for me, started 2010 when I started training fot the 2011 pageant, then I fought year after year. I would cry not because I was finally wearing an MUP crown but because never did I imagine that people would accept and love me for me, I was just a simple girl from North Cotabato with simple dreams, I think no one would ever give a glance at me and ever think that I can be a beauty queen but God is full of surprises. He painted my story so beautifully that I wish you can draw some hope, some strength, some inspiration from it. But remember always be ready to some rough roads as you reach for your dreams I was bashed, I was hated, all the harsh words was thrown at me, but it's ok, you will be ok, all you have to do is pray and listen to the people who matters. My tears tonight are for the amount of joy and how grateful I am that I was able to share this journey to all of you, that you never left me, that you believed in me no matter how many times I failed. I dont know if I can every repay everyone for the time the effort the emotions the love and the support you all showered me, believe me I thank God everyday that I have all of you. Yes, this is the end but is also a beginning. So please join me in the new story of my life, still so many pages to fill and hopingthat all of you will still be a part of it. Love you!”

Mary Jean Lastimosa is one of the most loved beauty queens of Philippines and will continue to remain so.
