06 Mar 2015 | Angelopedia

As young women of today we have many opportunities to make our mark in the universe. I say we take advantage of these opportunities so we can raise future leaders. We need to stand together and should not allow society to dictate our roles. Everything we do we should put God first and the rest will follow.

… Refilwe Mthimunye, Miss South Africa 2015 finalist!!

The 22 years old Refilwe Mthimunye from Bronkhorstspruit in Tshwane was completing her 3rd year in LLB Law at the University of South Africa when she got to know that she made it to the Miss South Africa 2015 Top 12. Refilwe feels that to be a great leader and politician one needs to know the laws oneself. She has been successful in sustaining her two passions so far – modeling and studying law.

This young suave beauty holds a clasp in the world of glamour, as the glittery world of pageants is not new to her. She was the second Runner-up at Miss Sundown 2013 and was the second Runner-up at Miss Varsity College, Pretoria in 2012. Refilwe claims that she hails from the best female only household ever. Her mother works for the South African Police Services and is a Commissioner. “She is the strongest woman I know and I really look up to her. She is my number one fan always”, says Refilwe, talking about her mother.

Mthimunye considers her mom as her role model who motivates her on a daily basis. “She not only shows me the right way of doing things, but also tries to be the best person she can be. For me she is a true leader, someone who leads by example”, says Mthimunye. In her spare time, Refilwe loves to play action netball with her friends. She likes to sing and dance around with her younger sister, who happens to be a good singer. Mthimunye has been inclined towards social work since a very young age, and it gives her immence pleasure to help those in need. “During the year 2013/14, I worked a lot with the Motsepe Foundation.  We gave talks to primary schools and went around communities handing out toys to children.  I’ve grown to love making people happy, so helping out where I am needed has become a hobby for me.

Finally Refilwe Mthimunye share that the reason behind her desire to win Miss South Africa is that this will be a platform for her to fulfill her purpose. “I would love to be Miss South Africa because I feel that we all have a purpose in life and a part of this purpose is to give back and be a blessing to others. This opportunity would help me fulfil this purpose. My role is to serve as the voice of my fellow citizens, especially those who don’t have basic and fundamental rights and privileges in this country. I’d also like to assist in trying to make South Africa a better country.
