Megan Young, the first ever Filipina beauty to be crowned Miss World, is celebrating her birthday today, February 27th. Megan, who turned 25 today, won the first Miss World title for Philippines in the year 2013. She posted a picture of a cupcake with a candle on top on her instagram account. Her fans and friends also greeted the beauty queen on the photo-sharing site. 

Let’s take a walk down the memory lane and check out the journey of the previous Miss World. Megan during her reign, travelled to over 15 countries worldwide, promoting Beauty with a Purpose, throughout the course of a year. Megan, as Miss World did some extremely great work during her reign. This incredibly humble and talented Filipina beauty has proven to the world why she rightfully deserved the Miss World crown. While contributing towards her duties as Miss World in 2013, Mega sid in an interview, “I could connect to so many people and inspire and encourage help on such a wide scale and that was a true highlight of my year. Hopefully in 5 years I will be doing something big internationally. But who knows, you can never predict the future, but I would love to win an acting award. You have to dream big and have that goal so you can work hard for it!”

The current Miss World, Rolene Strauss from South Africa, wished her predecessor on her birthday and posted a picture with Megan with a message that said, “Dear Megan.. May your year be one filled with love, laughter and legacies... You are like a sister to me. I feel honored to walk in your footsteps and privileged to receive your advice. Thank you for being YOU.. Happy birthday!!! Love Rolene”
