Mikaela Fotiadis has been elected as the Miss Universe Greece 2015 also known as Star Hellas 2015 at a casting call event held on October 30, 2015. She will now represent Greece at Miss Universe 2015 to be held on December 20’ in Las Vegas.

Mikaela is half Dutch who comes from the island of Crete and is a veteran in international competition. She has already represented Greece at Miss Young International, Miss Tourism and recently on the Next Top Model Contest.

The 21-years-old succeeds Ismini Dafopoulou, Star Hellas 2014/ Miss Universe 2014 winner.

At the same event, Spyridoula Valasiadou was titled as vice Miss Hellas 2015. She will represent Greece at Miss World 2015 on December 19 in Sanya, China.

“My dream just came true. I started with Miss Crete Young in 2011. I will represent my beautiful country, Greece in LasVegas at the biggest beauty contest in the world, Miss Universe! I cannot describe how happy I am!” stated Mikaela Fotiadis.

Greece has only one Miss Universe winner till date, Kyriaki “Corinna”Tsopei, who won the title in 1964. While Greece enjoyed numerous placements at the pageant in the 1960s, it doesn’t have much success lately. The last Greek to be in the semis of Miss Universe was Evagelia Aravani and that was ten years ago.
