Alyssa London was crowned as Miss Alaska USA 2017 during the state finale and she will head towards competing for the 66th Miss USA 2017 title. London always believed that she owns the Miss Alaska 2017 title. Ecstatic about the title, London says, “My parents named me Alyssa Kalyn because they wanted me to have the same initials as the state of Alaska, so my passion for the state runs deep.” In fact, her mother named her initials on the state of Alaska itself.

Alyssa London, 27 belongs to Tlingit, but she always had a mixed cultural background as her mother is a European. She was raised near Seattle and attended the Stanford University, where she studied the economic development of Alaska. Later she joined Microsoft where her love for entrepreneurship took birth. Talking about the spark of doing an independent work she says, “I was noticing that the purchase orders were for these ‘Made in Washington’ baskets called ‘the Northwest Native gift baskets,’ and so I looked it up online and saw what was in it. There was a little bit of salmon and popcorn, but I felt conflicted that it had that name and I knew the reason they were purchasing it, but there was a disconnect.” She also lends her voice for a weekly radio show on KOAN where she talks about the travel and tourism industry.

London is looking forward to promote education, business and entrepreneurship amongst women in the society. “I want to empower women to look to entrepreneurship as a means to achieve their own independence and self-sufficiency,” says Miss Alaska Alyssa London. She is determined to do something for her state and is self motivated.

Alaska has won the Miss Alaska USA pageant only four times in its history and the last time the state was placed in the pageant in the year 1990. So, everyone is looking forward to Alyssa London to bring the coveted crown of Miss USA for the very first time. The pageant will be held in summers and Alyssa is sure to make her state proud.
