Miss America 2019 winner Nia Imani is an American singer and songwriter who rightfully took over her duties when she was crowned in 2018. She has spent years bringing art together and letting it reach out to undeserved communities. She believes that this world requires more colours and especially music which brings people closer.

A few days ago, Nia, an arts education advocate, came up with a unique website called “Composeher.org” which is dedicated to supporting, encouraging, and highlighting female composers and musicians. A great initiative in itself, Nia has also been active in performing for various symphonies and orchestras throughout her life. She happens to be excellent in one of the most tough genres of music i.e. opera.

Nia is a student at East Carolina University and was a member of ArtistCorps, a program that invites well-known artists into public schools and community centres to work with students with decreased access to arts and programming. After shifting to New York permanently, Imani worked closely with Success Academy Charter Schools and founded a music club for students. She also served as a cultural partner with the NYC-based NGO, ‘Sing for Hope’, and made sure that music reached out to the world.

Nia Imani has been performing her duties brilliantly by spreading love and joy across all age groups and kinds of people. She makes sure to speak on why music is important and be the ambassador for those who cannot express. Surely she is a queen in the true sense of the word and we couldn’t be more proud of her.
